National Digital Intelligence

ISO 27001 Certification

Towards the end of last year, we were pleased to achieve ISO 27001 certification. This certification is an internationally recognised standard for information security management. The rigorous certification process involved a comprehensive evaluation of our policies, processes and controls.

This achievement highlights our commitment to upholding the highest standards of information security and privacy, continuously improving processes, strengthening controls and safeguarding the interest of all stakeholders.

National Digital Intelligence Program

We are delighted to be a leading PHN in the National Digital Intelligence Program. From 2022 to 2025, our focus is on advancing digital and data assets, their security, and accessibility across the PHN landscape, in support of our purpose to improve the health outcomes of our population. The focus on understanding the inequities that impact most on health and wellbeing will be at the forefront of this program.

We are focused on three main projects:

PHN General

We are building a new Operational Data Store (ODS) for general practice that will strengthen our understanding of where PHNs can contribute to enhancing national general practice data.

ISO 27001

In addition to our own ISO 27001 certification, we are pleased to be working in collaboration with Brisbane North PHN to facilitate an ISO 27001 Community of Practice (CoP), creating a learning environment where PHNs learn from one another. The project lead reports to the National Data Governance Committee and aims to support PHNs on their journey to certification through shared learnings, resources and guidance. Monthly meetings commenced in July and include presentations from other PHNs and industry experts as all PHNs work towards achieving ISO 27001 certification by June 2026.

Indigenous Data Sovereignty

The Data Consent Management and Indigenous Data Sovereignty working groups are two major initiatives established to develop principles, best practices and resources for PHNs to use. This is another step towards Closing the Gap by partnering with First Nations people to build data-related capabilities and an inclusive data system.

The HealthPathways website is easy to navigate and the fact that the pathways are area-based increases the relevance of the information provided for local services. HealthPathways has been useful to me as a psychiatrist as it allows me to find the right resources. The references and links at the end of each pathway give me access to the available options, information factsheets and services available to families.
